What is Meditation?

Meditation is a way to bring the attention into the present moment in order to help us relax, balance and focus. No special ability or belief system is required to do it, it’s available to us all.
There is often some confusion about the difference between meditation and mindfulness. The terms are frequently used interchangeably even though they are not quite the same thing. Meditation is more the actual practice (sitting, walking etc and focussing on a specific object or just simply noticing what comes up in the mind), whereas mindfulness is the awareness (noticing, watching the mind, body etc).

Some of the common types I offer are:

– Mindfulness of breathing
– Visualisation
– Body scanning
– Walking meditation
– Insight meditation
– Body awareness

All practices are secular – there is no religious content or affiliation.
